“Why I Decided to Encapsulate My Placenta.”

I encapsulated my placenta. Huh, what? What does that mean? A couple of years ago I wouldn’t have had any idea what placenta encapsulation meant. Somewhere early in my 20130507-093248.jpgpregnancy I heard about it and googled the term. Wait a minute, you eat your own placenta? I’m a vegetarian so this seemed even more unappealing. I was grossed out but intrigued. Why would someone do this? It turns out the benefits are very promising;
it minimizes postpartum bleeding, enhances milk supply and decreases risk of post partum depression. While there is no scientific proof, I decided that it would be worth the cost and the ick factor.

When my good friend and co-mommy, Jaclyn, asked me to share our story about “Sleep Training”, my mind started to race. I thought to myself, I have so much information to share, how exciting to be apart of this resourceful and educational channel! My interest in cloth diapering started even before we got pregnant. I had read a few “crunchy” lifestyle and parenting blogs where cloth diapers were a regular topic and this piqued my interest to dig deeper. Why would anyone choose to wash and dry their own diapers? Weren’t disposables created to save us from this hassle? After quite a bit of online research and drilling a friend of mine with questions (she is currently cloth diapering TWINS!), I decided it was definitely what we wanted to do.
