A Guilt-Free Doughnut Date at Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee

Normally, Caleb and I try to eat more on the healthy side. Let’s just say that last Saturday was very abnormal. Abnormally delicious! Sidecar Doughnuts and Coffee, a gourmet doughnut shop, finally opened last week. For months, We had been anticipating the opening of Sidecar. They started as a cute little food truck and are now boasting their own super trendy store-front.

“So why are these doughnuts guilt-free?” You ask. “Are the gluten/calorie/fat/carb free??” Mm, not exactly. The only thing they’re free of is mediocrity. These doughnuts are like no doughnut you’ve ever tasted before. For me, it’s the novelty and the uniqueness that makes them guilt-free. We got there early (by accident) and were surprised to find a very long line awaiting us. To be honest, it didn’t really bother me. We just chatted with the other crazy people as the anticipation increased. By the time we a finally got into the shop we felt totally justified in buying a half dozen doughnuts. Hey, we waited that long we might as well make it worth it, right? That was our logic anyway! We went with: huckleberry, toasted coconut, callebaut chocolate, maple bacon, cinnamon crumb and malasada with haupia filling. I still can’t decide which was my favorite.
Now, feast your eyes on Sidecar doughnuts…
